US Hands Out $187M For Vehicle Efficiency Projects

Law360, New York (January 11, 2010, 1:07 PM ET) -- U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced Monday that nine projects had been selected to receive more than $187 million to investigate ways to improve fuel efficiency for heavy-duty trucks and passenger vehicles.

Chu said that the awards tapped more than $100 million in stimulus funds earmarked for green energy development in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which, with a private cost share of 50 percent, will help support more than $375 million in total research, development and demonstration projects around the country.
