Virgin Chief Slams BA-American Antitrust Immunity Bid

Law360, New York (January 11, 2010, 6:14 PM ET) -- The head of Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. urged U.S. regulators Monday to reject British Airways PLC and American Airlines Inc.'s attempt to have their trans-Atlantic Oneworld Alliance declared immune from antitrust laws, saying the partnership would impede competition for London-U.S. flights.

The discount airline's president, Sir Richard Branson, said in a statement that his airline had the same concerns over the Alliance as those that were raised in December by the U.S. Department of Justice and in October by the European Commission.
