Mass. Judge Says Faith-Based Healing Not Medicine

Law360, New York (January 14, 2010, 3:59 PM EST) -- Finding that faith-based healing is not a protected reason for missing work under the Family and Medical Leave Act, a federal judge has granted summary judgment to Lahey Clinic Hospital, freeing the facility from claims brought by a former employee who was fired after escorting her sick husband on a health and pleasure pilgrimage to the Philippines.
