Don't Nix Gene Patents, BPLA Tells Court

Law360, New York (January 14, 2010, 7:52 PM EST) -- The nonprofit Boston Patent Law Association has called on the federal judge overseeing the landmark Myriad Genetics Inc. case to look at the big picture and block the plaintiffs' attempts to invalidate the genetic patents at issue.

A strong patent system benefits far more people than it hurts, and the court should grant judgments in favor of defendant Myriad, the BPLA said in a proposed amicus brief filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
