Supreme Court Takes Up Monsanto Alfalfa Ban Appeal

Law360, New York (January 15, 2010, 6:47 PM ET) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear Monsanto Inc.'s bid to overturn a federal appeals court's decision that a nationwide ban on genetically engineered alfalfa should remain in place until a court-ordered environmental impact assessment is completed.

The high court on Friday approved Monsanto's Oct. 22 petition for writ of certiorari, clearing the way for Monsanto to argue its case against the ban that has prevented its Roundup Ready alfalfa from being planted since 2007.
