SLU Hospital Escapes Guidant Defibrillator MDL

Law360, New York (January 19, 2010, 3:30 PM EST) -- Saint Louis University Hospital has won its way out of the massive multidistrict litigation involving Guidant Corp.'s recalled implantable heart defibrillators because a group of plaintiffs failed to file a health care affidavit within the required period of time.

Judge Donovan W. Frank of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota signed off Monday on an order dismissing SLU Hospital and its owner, Tenet Health System SL Inc., from the litigation without prejudice.
