Google Inequitable Conduct Claims 'Baseless': Judge

Law360, New York (January 19, 2010, 2:54 PM EST) -- A magistrate judge has dismissed Google Inc.'s inequitable conduct claims against Function Media LLC, saying Google's claims were “baseless” and handing the patent-holding company a win in its fight over patents related to methods for Internet and print advertising.

Tucked in a series of four rulings Friday, Magistrate Judge Charles V. Everingham IV ruled that Google failed to provide “clear and convincing evidence” that Function Media made statements that were designed to deceive the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
