Magellan Resolves CWA Suit Over Okla. Gas Spill

Law360, New York (January 20, 2010, 6:02 PM EST) -- Magellan Pipeline Co. LP has agreed to pay a $418,000 civil penalty to resolve the U.S. government's allegations that the pipeline operator violated the Clean Water Act in connection with a 2008 gasoline spill in Oologah, Okla.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Magellan entered a proposed consent decree in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma on Tuesday, the same day the U.S. Department of Justice lodged its complaint seeking penalties and injunctive relief for Magellan's alleged environmental violation.
