High Court Allows 2 Intervenors In Carolinas River Spat

Law360, New York (January 20, 2010, 6:12 PM ET) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday said it would allow the Catawba River Water Supply Project and Duke Energy Carolinas LLC to intervene independently in South Carolina's suit against North Carolina over water rights, but it rejected Charlotte, N.C.'s bid to intervene as a defendant, saying the city had not met the appropriate standards and that its intervention was not required.

South Carolina had objected to the special master's interim report allowing all three parties to intervene.
