FDA Taps Acting Director To Lead Devices Unit

Law360, New York (January 20, 2010, 5:45 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Devices and Radiological Health gained some stability Wednesday as acting Director Jeffrey E. Shuren was named permanent director of the regulatory office in charge of inspecting medical devices.

At an all-hands meeting at the center Wednesday, FDA Commissioner Margaret A. Hamburg announced the appointment, then ceded the floor to Shuren, who outlined his strategic goals for the unit.
