Infineon Says Volterra Infringes 4 Power Patents

Law360, New York (January 25, 2010, 1:08 PM EST) -- German semiconductor giant Infineon Technologies AG has filed an infringement lawsuit against Volterra Semiconductor Corp. claiming the Fremont, Calif.-based company infringed patents for power devices and amplifiers that help power the computer industry.

Infineon's complaint, lodged Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, says Volterra's voltage regulators and pulse width modulation controllers infringe its patents.

The devices provide and maintain the power needed by the central/graphic processing unit in computer servers, personal computers, notebooks and high-end graphics cards, Infineon said.
