ERISA Suits Show No Sign Of Abating

Law360, New York (February 02, 2010, 5:34 PM ET) -- Employee Retirement Income Security Act settlements raked in over $400 million in 2009, and while many of these cases arose from the financial crisis, lawyers say there are no indications that litigation will recede even after big business regains strength.

Financial services firms doled out more than $200 million in settlements during the past year, but other sectors, including industrial manufacturing, energy and insurance, each payed out more than $20 million to settle a variety of class actions over retirement plans.
