Liberty Global Sells Japan Cable Stake For $4B

Law360, New York (January 25, 2010, 1:11 PM ET) -- Liberty Global Inc., a U.S.-based international cable company spun off from Liberty Media Corp., has agreed to sell its stake in Jupiter Telecommunications of Japan to Japanese wireless operator KDDI Corp. for $4 billion.

Liberty said in a statement Sunday that the sale of its 37.8 percent stake in Jupiter would allow it to focus on other global markets, including Europe. The European Commission on Monday approved Liberty's acquisition of Germany's second-largest cable company, Unitymedia GmbH.
