Ex-McGuireWoods Atty Hit With Corruption Charges

Law360, New York (January 25, 2010, 5:59 PM EST) -- A federal grand jury has charged former McGuireWoods LLP partner Charles Ruffin Poole with corruption in relation to deals he allegedly made and failed to disclose while working under erstwhile North Carolina Gov. Michael F. Easley, now a partner at the firm.

In a 64-page criminal indictment filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, the grand jury charged Poole with 51 counts of extortion, bribery, racketeering, money laundering and other charges.
