Microsoft Exits Acacia Unit's Online Map Patent Suit

Law360, New York (January 26, 2010, 1:22 PM EST) -- Microsoft Corp. has reached a settlement with an Acacia Research Corp. unit in a suit accusing Google Inc., Yahoo Inc. and several other Web site operators of infringing a patent for making interactive maps on the Internet.

Judge David Folsom of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas signed off Monday on the parties bid to dismiss all claims and counterclaims with prejudice after WebMap Technologies LLC and the Redmond, Wash.-based technology giant entered into a settlement and license agreement on Jan. 21....
