Universal Health Locks Out 800 Nurses In Contract Dispute

Law360, New York (December 5, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Nearly 800 nurses in Las Vegas went to work on Monday only to find themselves denied access to their jobs at two hospitals, after failed contract negotiations led Universal Health Services Inc. to initiate a five-day lockout.

The Service Employees International Union, which represents the nurses, had called for a strike, starting Monday, to convince Universal Health to include staffing increases in a new contract.
