Petland Still In Doghouse For Selling Sick Puppies

Law360, New York (January 28, 2010, 2:54 PM EST) -- While dismissing most claims, a federal judge has refused to completely unleash Petland Inc. from a class action alleging that the pet store habitually misled customers by selling them sick puppies from puppy mills.

Judge David G. Campbell of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona on Tuesday tossed the majority of allegations that the company violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act by fraudulently maintaining that its puppies were from U.S. Department of Agriculture-approved professional and hobby breeders.
