E-Trade Inks Deal In TQP Data Encryption Patent Suit

Law360, New York (February 01, 2010, 1:00 PM ET) -- Internet stock brokerage E-Trade Financial Services Corp. has reached a settlement in TQP Development LLC's suit accusing a wide range of financial institutions of infringing a patent for the transmission of encrypted data online.

Judge T. John Ward of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Friday approved the parties' bid to dismiss with prejudice all claims and counterclaims, and directed each side to cover their own attorneys' fees and costs.
