Microsoft, Others Settle Data Security Patent Suit

Law360, New York (February 2, 2010, 5:40 PM EST) -- Information Protection and Authentication of Texas LLC has reached settlements with Microsoft Corp. and three other defendants in litigation alleging that a slew of companies infringed patents related to security software for computer systems.

IPAT filed separate motions Friday and Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas seeking to dismiss Microsoft, Symantec Corp., PC Tools Inc. and McAfee Inc. from the case, which also named antivirus application vendors, firewall manufacturers and security software companies among the many defendants.
