Online Gambling Co. Sues IGM Over Betting Patent

Law360, New York (February 4, 2010, 2:52 PM EST) -- Bahamas-based betting company Regent Market Group Ltd. has accused derivatives trading company IG Markets Inc. of infringing a patent for a system that makes automated financial bets.

Regent filed a complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleging that Chicago-based IGM's trading platform products and services infringe and induce others to infringe a method for fixed-odds financial betting invented by Regent founder Jean-Yves Sireau.

“IGM’s acts of infringement are irreparably harming and causing damage to Regent,” the complaint said....
