AuthenTec Fights Back In Rival's Fingerprint IP Suit

Law360, New York (February 5, 2010, 1:17 PM EST) -- AuthenTec Inc. has fired back at rival fingerprint security company UPEK Inc.'s patent infringement allegations, raising counterclaims accusing UPEK of trade secrets misappropriation and infringement of five AuthenTec patents covering fingerprint sensor, security and packaging technologies.

Florida-based AuthenTec lodged its accusations in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Wednesday in response to UPEK's Jan. 29 complaint alleging that AuthenTec's fingerprint security technology infringed one of its patents and seeking declaratory judgment of noninfringement and invalidity of the five AuthenTec patents....
