Enviros Appeal Oil Cos.' Right To Take Polar Bears

Law360, New York (February 5, 2010, 2:36 PM EST) -- The Center for Biological Diversity and Pacific Environment have appealed a federal judge's denial of their challenge to a U.S. Department of the Interior regulation that permits incidental takings of polar bears and walruses during oil and gas exploration in Alaska's Chukchi Sea.

The environmental groups on Tuesday filed a notice of appeal in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska of the court's Jan. 13 judgment, aiming to take the case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
