Houghton Wants $20M Suit Over Unit Sale Tossed

Law360, New York (February 5, 2010, 4:12 PM EST) -- Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Co. has asked the court to toss Cengage Learning Inc.'s suit against it seeking $20 million in loss of business damages, maintaining that Cengage's claims are barred by the terms of its $750 million acquisition of HMH's college textbook division.

On Thursday HMH filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York a motion to dismiss Cengage's claims that HMH diverted value from its college textbook division immediately prior to selling it to Cengage in 2008.
