Judge Sanctions Health Net For Omitting Evidence

Law360, New York (December 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has imposed numerous sanctions on Health Net Inc., after the company’s “repeated and unabated discovery abuses and lack of candor” allegedly caused two ERISA cases to drag on for several years.

“When the abuses are as extreme as they are in this case, to refrain from sanctions is unfair to the parties who conduct themselves according to the rules,” New Jersey District Judge Faith Hochberg said in a Nov. 6 opinion.
