Mexican Law Inapplicable In Ford Rollover Case: Judge

Law360, New York (February 09, 2010, 5:22 PM ET) -- Rebuffing arguments from Ford Motor Co. and Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC, a Delaware judge has ruled that Mexican law cannot apply in a suit over a fatal rollover accident involving a Ford Explorer equipped with a recalled Firestone tire simply because the accident occurred in Mexico.

Judge Jan R. Burden of the Superior Court for the State of Delaware on Tuesday said that “the United States maintains the most significant relationship with this case” and denied the defendants' motion to apply the laws of Mexico....
