American Airlines Could Face $10M FAA Fine

Law360, New York (February 10, 2010, 6:06 PM ET) -- American Airlines could reportedly face one of the biggest fines in Federal Aviation Administration history as the agency closes a two-year investigation into faulty wiring on 290 MD-80 jets.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday the fine could be around the $10.2 million fine proposed against Southwest Airlines in March 2008 for flying planes that missed required examinations for structural cracks. That fine was settled for $7.5 million in March 2009.
