Visteon Targets Garmin Over GPS Patents

Law360, New York (February 11, 2010, 12:56 PM EST) -- Visteon Global Technologies Inc. — a unit of bankrupt auto parts maker Visteon Corp. — has launched a suit against Garmin International Inc., alleging a number of its GPS devices infringe five patents related to navigation systems technology.

Visteon and an affiliate filed a complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, claiming that certain models of Garmin’s nuvi, Street Pilot, zumo, Quest, and other handheld and vehicle-mounted GPS devices violate at least one of the patents-in-suit.
