Samsung's BlackJack Dealt Trademark Lawsuit

Law360, New York (December 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Research in Motion Ltd. has filed a lawsuit over Samsung Group’s BlackJack smart-phone, alleging Samsung’s use of a name similar to that of its own smart-phone, the BlackBerry, amounts to unfair competition and trademark dilution.

The BlackJack entered the United States market last month and features a full QWERTY keyboard, a camera, music and video playback, and advanced e-mail and Internet features. It is distributed through the Cingular network, which is also the largest seller of Blackberry devices.
