Hologic, J&J Unit Strike $12.5M Deal In Biopsy IP War

Law360, New York (February 19, 2010, 6:07 PM ET) -- Medical device company Hologic Inc. has agreed to pay $12.5 million to end a long-running patent battle with Johnson & Johnson unit Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc., putting to rest three lawsuits over biopsy products.

Under the deal, which the companies announced Friday, Hologic will also pay Ethicon ongoing royalties on sales of its Atec and Eviva biopsy products, and Ethicon will pay Hologic ongoing royalties on sales of its Mammotome MR biopsy product.
