HP Drops Database Patent From Software Tree Spat

Law360, New York (February 22, 2010, 4:13 PM ET) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. has dropped counterclaims asserting one of its database patents in Software Tree LLC's suit accusing HP and others of infringing a patent related to a Java-based application server.

Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas approved a joint stipulation dismissing all claims of action related to HP-held U.S. Patent Number 5,907,846, allowing the parties to focus on Software Tree’s claims of infringement of U.S. Patent Number 6,163,776.
