Italy Launches Antitrust Probe Over Bayer Fungicide

Law360, New York (February 24, 2010, 5:28 PM EST) -- Italy's competition regulator has launched a probe into whether Bayer CropScience AG abused its dominant position in the market for grapevine fungicide by delaying competitors' attempts to gain regulatory approval to sell the chemicals.

The Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato said Tuesday that it had opened the investigation into Bayer CropScience, its Italian unit and parent company the Bayer Group based on a complaint by the European Union Fosetyl-Aluminium Task Force.
