US Widens Probe Into Eli Lilly's FCPA Compliance

Law360, New York (February 23, 2010, 6:46 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission have widened an investigation into Eli Lilly & Co. subsidiaries' compliance with a federal law that prohibits bribery of foreign officials, the company has disclosed.

In an SEC filing Monday, Lilly said it had been subpoenaed by the SEC and that both agencies had asked Lilly to voluntarily provide information related to the activities of subsidiaries in “a number of other countries,” as part of a U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigation.
