Nissan, Others Triumph In Tire Sensor Patent Suit

Law360, New York (February 25, 2010, 3:21 PM EST) -- A federal judge has put a lid on a patent infringement suit brought by MHL Tek LLC against some of the world’s most prominent automakers — including Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Audi AG and Volkswagen AG — over tire pressure sensor technology.

Judge John T. Ward granted summary judgment in favor of the automakers Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, ruling that their pressure sensors do not infringe the one remaining patent-in-suit because they are not “generally cylindrical.”
