S. Africa Wants More Dough From Bread Cartel

Law360, New York (February 25, 2010, 3:40 PM EST) -- South Africa's competition watchdog has appealed a court decision to fine Pioneer Foods roughly 195 million rand ($25 million) for its alleged participation in a bread cartel, saying the fine should be increased to about 1.5 billion rand ($195 million).

South Africa's Competition Commission lodged its appeal with the Competition Appeal Court on Wednesday, arguing that the Competition Tribunal did not calculate Pioneer's fine properly.
