US Objects To Freedom Ch. 11 Plan On Tax Grounds

Law360, New York (February 26, 2010, 12:21 PM EST) -- The U.S. has filed an objection to the confirmation of newspaper publisher Freedom Communications Holdings Inc.’s Chapter 11 plan, saying it does not adequately address the debtor’s tax liabilities to the government.

The plan does not specify the period between installment payments against the United States’ priority tax claims, attorneys for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division said in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on Thursday.
