Md. BPA Ban Breezes Through State Senate

Law360, New York (February 26, 2010, 12:53 PM EST) -- The Maryland Senate has unanimously passed a bill to ban bisphenol A from baby bottles and sippy cups, making the state the fourth to outlaw the chemical in child care products.

Senate Bill 213 passed 46-0 Thursday, joining an identical bill in the House of Delegates that unanimously passed Feb. 19. The bills prohibit “the manufacture, sale or distribution of” bottles and cups for children under 4 that contain BPA, and require “a person to use the least toxic alternative” when manufacturing such products.
