FTC OKs $8B PepsiCo Bottler Deal, With Conditions

Law360, New York (February 26, 2010, 5:02 PM EST) -- U.S. antitrust regulators have approved PepsiCo Inc.’s $7.8 billion acquisition of its two largest bottlers and distributors under certain conditions, including limits on access to commercially sensitive marketing information of rival Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc.

The Federal Trade Commission ordered the soft drink giant to set up a firewall for the next 20 years ensuring that its ownership of The Pepsi Bottling Group Inc. and PepsiAmericas Inc. won’t give certain unapproved PepsiCo employees access to the confidential marketing information and brand plans, the FTC said...
