BP Propane Price-Fixing Suits Survive Dismissal Bids

Law360, New York (March 01, 2010, 3:26 PM ET) -- A federal judge has refused to toss two suits brought against BP America Inc. by energy companies alleging they paid artificially high prices for propane during a 2004 attempt by BP traders to corner the market.

Judge James Zagel of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Thursday dismissed the energy companies' common law fraud and Illinois Consumer Fraud Act claims against BP, but allowed claims of monopolization, attempted monopolization and unjust enrichment to survive.
