CSIRO Targets AT&T, Others Over Wireless Patent

Law360, New York (March 1, 2010, 4:07 PM EST) -- Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization has hit Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile USA Inc. and AT&T Inc. with a lawsuit claiming the cell phone service providers have infringed a patent for wireless local area network technology.

Australia-based CSIRO lodged three separate complaints Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, each claiming infringement of the same patent.

The defendants stand accused of violating U.S. Patent Number 5,487,069. CSIRO holds all rights and interests in the patent, according to the plaintiff.
