Wyeth, Apotex Vie For Quick Win In Effexor Patent Suit

Law360, New York (March 1, 2010, 3:41 PM EST) -- Pharmaceutical giant Wyeth Inc. and generic-drug maker Apotex Inc. have each asked a federal judge to rule in their favor in a patent infringement suit brought by Wyeth over Apotex's planned generic version of popular antidepressant Effexor.

The companies fired off opposing motions for judgment on the partial findings Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, in a lawsuit alleging that Apotex's planned drug infringes Wyeth-held U.S. Patent Numbers 6,274,171 B1; 6,403,120 B1; and 6,419,958 B2.
