CSX Wins $1.3M In Contract Spat Over Crane Collapse

Law360, New York (March 02, 2010, 1:16 PM ET) -- A federal judge has ruled that transportation company CSX Corp. Inc. should get about $1.3 million in damages in a long-running contract and insurance spat with Pacific Rail Services LLC stemming from a crane accident that killed a Pacific Rail employee.

Judge Blanche Manning of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Illinois issued the ruling Friday, finding that CSX was negligent for failing to properly maintain the crane but that Pacific Rail should have obtained insurance that covered CSX for its own negligence....
