Duke Energy Settles Va. Boiler Emissions Liability

Law360, New York (March 2, 2010, 5:09 PM EST) -- The U.S. has asked a court to sign off on a proposed consent decree that would see a Duke Energy Corp. subsidiary pay $310,000 to resolve the firm's liability for improperly monitoring emissions from a power plant boiler in Virginia.

DEGS of Narrows LLC will pay a $155,000 civil penalty to the U.S. government and $155,000 to the Commonwealth of Virginia within 30 days after the effective date, according to the consent decree filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia....
