AstraZeneca Slaps Sun Pharma Over Nexium IV Generic

Law360, New York (March 02, 2010, 4:25 PM ET) -- AstraZeneca AB has hit generic-drug maker Sun Pharma Global Inc. with a patent suit over its plan to market a generic formulation of AstraZeneca’s intravenous acid reflux disease treatment Nexium IV.

Swedish pharmaceutical heavyweight AstraZeneca lodged the patent infringement complaint Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan after receiving notification of Sun Pharma’s abbreviated new drug application, which claims the patents covering Nexium IV are invalid.
