Chemical Execs Ask Congress For TSCA Reform

Law360, New York (March 9, 2010, 5:54 PM EST) -- A law that regulates toxic chemicals that has been widely criticized as ineffective needs to be updated, but lawmakers should not impose a burdensome European-style system, chemical industry executives said Tuesday at a congressional hearing.

Linda Fisher, vice president of safety, health and the environment at DuPont & Co., said it was a shift in position for the industry to support reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act, but that the public was growing more aware about exposure to chemicals through products.
