Judge Clears $28.7M Deal In Ky. Gas Royalties Suit

Law360, New York (March 4, 2010, 4:33 PM EST) -- A trio of energy companies has been given the go-ahead to hand over more than $28 million to thousands of natural gas lessors in Kentucky, putting to rest claims that the lease-holding firms cheated the companies out of millions of dollars in royalty payments.

U.S. District Judge Karen K. Caldwell of the Eastern District of Kentucky on Wednesday approved the deal the Kentucky landowners struck in July with Chesapeake Appalachia LLC, NiSource Inc. and Columbia Energy Group.
