Inamed Sues Medicis Over Anti-Wrinkle Patent

Law360, New York (June 1, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Cosmetic care provider Inamed has sued rival Medicis for patent infringement and filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission over a wrinkle treatment.

Inamed sued Medicis and its Swedish subsidiary Q-Med in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California for infringement of a patent related to Medicis's product to smooth facial wrinkles, called Restylane.

Inamed claims Medicis is infringing U.S. patent no. 4,803,075, issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Feb. 7, 1989.
