US Pork Returns To Russia Under Trade Deal

Law360, New York (March 8, 2010, 1:06 PM EST) -- U.S. and Russian trade officials have reached an agreement that will reopen the Russian market to U.S. pork products, putting in place new inspection requirements for all American pork export facilities to address Russian concerns about possible antibiotic contamination.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced Friday that the two sides had finally reached a deal to lift Russian restrictions on shipments from 13 U.S. pork plants, together accounting for more than 90 percent of U.S. pork exports to Russia.
