Norfolk Southern To Pay EPA $4M Over Chlorine Spill

Law360, New York (March 08, 2010, 5:45 PM ET) -- Norfolk Southern Railway Co. has agreed to pay the federal government $4 million to resolve Clean Water Act violations stemming from a 2005 train derailment and chlorine spill in South Carolina.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the settlement Monday and simultaneously filed a notice of the proposed consent decree in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina.
