Markey Calls On GAO To Examine Nuclear Plant Policy

Law360, New York (March 09, 2010, 2:11 PM ET) -- House subcommittee on energy and environment chairman Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., has asked the U.S. Government Accountability Office to review federal licensing procedures for new and existing nuclear reactors, as well as oversight and safety at nuclear plants.

Markey announced Monday that he had contacted GAO head Gene Dodaro to request a thorough investigation of current federal safety regulations and oversight for new and existing nuclear reactors, as well as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's processes for granting licenses to nuclear power plants.
