Adobe Smacked With False Patent Marking Suit

Law360, New York (March 10, 2010, 4:37 PM EST) -- Nonprofit group Public Patent Foundation Inc. has accused Adobe Systems Inc. of deceiving the public by marking its Adobe Reader product with expired and inapplicable patent numbers.

The suit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleges that Adobe has mismarked its Reader product — which allows for the viewing and printing of PDF files — with at least four expired patents and at least 31 unexpired but inapplicable patents dating back to 2005.
